Revise and enhance: win-win insights for home delivery services ;
The efficient transportation of goods is a major goal of Logistics Service Providers (LSPs). This is particularly evident in e-retail settings. The unprecedented growth of e-retail has amplified its transport-related negative externalities, e.g., emissions, traffic congestion, and noise. As a result, efficient and sustainable goods transportation is a central societal concern in urban areas. The research focuses on improving the efficiency and sustainability of Attended Home Delivery (AHD) services by optimizing dynamic time slot management. The problem settings are optimized under uncertainty, with respect to service times and travel time. The main decisions to be optimized pertain to the routing of vehicles and time slot allocation. Considering several stochastic dynamic environments combined with innovative time slot management strategies, we propose efficient algorithms aiming at minimizing operational costs.
