Conspiracy theories and propaganda on mainstream social networks
A recurring phenomenon in all social network platforms is the diffusion and discussion of conspiracy theories, which are false or unverified narratives that allege secret plots or events involving organizations or governments. We aim to characterize, with the aid of novel LLMs and advanced methodologies from the domain of Data Science and Network Science the origins, evolution, and distribution of these narratives on new and popular social media platforms such as TikTok, with also an important comparison with propaganda diffusion.
