Printed Polymer Transistors for Radio Frequency Applications
The organic electronics emerging field is nowadays collecting increasing interest by both the scientific and industrial world. Devices are based on organic materials, which show some important features such as the flexibility, the possibility to be printed and fabricated on large area - due to their solution-processable characteristics - and the possibility of potentially depositing electronics on any substrate. These particular properties open a wide range of applications that could not be covered by traditional electronic devices, such as into the medical field with biocompatible sensors, into the consumable electronic field, with flexible and infrangible screens, into the wearable electronic field, or into the smart tags and distributed sensors fields. The main current organic electronic devices’ limitation lies in their low operating frequency: in this contest, the aim of this research project is to overcome this limit, bringing the transistor to operation frequencies in the order of hundreds of MHz or of the GHz.
